Made by Ghost using AGS and entered into the January MAGS competition, Hubris deserves a mention – it describes itself as “fantasy strategy card game, easy to learn, hard to master, and quite a bit of fun” – and I wouldn’t really disagree with any part of that description. If anyone remembers Acromage – the game you could play in the taverns in the later games of the Might and Magic series – you’ll be right at home with Hubris. It’s got lovely retro graphics, a slick interface and is very playable. There’s also talk of a Deluxe Edition coming out sometime, which would be great. My only disappointment is that that name ” Agocapwa “, which I suggested in the pre-production phase of the game, wasn’t used. (Actually, perhaps its not such a surprise that the name wasn’t adopted… it came from an abbreviation of the working title that Ghost came up with, a Leonard of Quirm style literal name for what it does.)
